Preliminary Assessment - Conduct an audit of your site to determine if you are ready for a registration audit. You will receive a written report including a list of any non-compliance found.

Registered audit - A registered audit is a two-part audit, consisting of a Phase 1 preparation audit and a phase 2 certification audit. A Phase 2 certification audit is usually scheduled one to six months after a Phase 1 audit. At the end of the registration audit, the UL Solutions audit team will advise you of their recommendations for registration. If any noncompliance is found, the Chief Auditor will provide a formal nonconformity report at the audit closing meeting.

Supervisory audit - an annual audit conducted after registration to measure continued compliance with ISO 13485 and any other regulatory program.

Three-year (renewal) audit - The renewal audit measures the progress and compliance of the registered QMS during the three-year registration cycle and is used to start a new three-year registration cycle.

Internal audit - Manufacturers that are not QMS registered with UL Solutions can hire experienced UL Solutions auditors to conduct internal audits. If the manufacturer chooses UL Solutions for this function and then decides to use UL Solutions as its QMS registrar, it must allow a two-year interval not to hire UL Solutions for internal audits. UL Solutions can then become its registrar.
